Karat (abbreviated as K or Kt) communicates the amount of pure gold contained in a gold alloy. 100% pure gold, defined as 24 karats, is easily scratched and bent. 18 karat gold is an alloy consisting of 18/24ths pure gold (75%) and 25% other metals (copper, silver, etc). This alloy creates a stronger and more durable metal than pure gold, while retaining its beauty and elegance. Jewelry made with 18 Kt gold is also more affordable than identical 24 Kt gold items, since the alloy contains less gold.
The 100 East brand features highly desirable 18 Kt gold or platinum jewelry which showcases our painstakingly hand-selected natural colored gemstones or fancy colored diamonds. Some Gordon’s Curated Selection items are also made with 18 Kt gold. Virtually all these pieces are further embellished with sparkling diamonds graded as colorless or near colorless on the GIA 4C’s of Diamond Quality scale. Highly skilled goldsmiths located in the United States craft these components into special jewelry pieces worthy of being passed on to future generations.
